CPI(M) demands regularisation of houses built by poor on govt. lands
Communist Party of India-Marxist [CPI(M)] State Secretary V. Srinivasa Rao on Sunday (June 8) demanded that the government give land titles to the poor residing in houses on government land, as per the G.O. No. 30. Addressing a press conference here, Mr. Srinivasa Rao said the G.O. 30, issued in January to provide houses to the poor, has not been implemented. The G.O. clearly states that titles should be issued to those residing even on objectionable government land and that their settlements be regularised. The government did not carry out any door-to-door campaign, and even when people voluntarily submitted applications, the process remains pending. In places like Palakoderu, applications were not even accepted and were summarily rejected, he pointed out. In West Godavari district, the officials demolished the houses even after the residents applied for regularisation. Action should be taken against such officers and the police who carried out the demolitions, and houses should be built immediately or alternative homes provided at the same locations, he said. CPIM State secretariat member Ch. Babu Rao said the kind of attention being given to 'Yogandhra' should instead be focused on 'Gr̥hāndhra' (Home-Andhra) and 'Nivāsāndhra' (Residential-Andhra), but unfortunately, the government is not taking up such work. During the elections, the NDA promised to provide house sites—three cents in villages and two cents in towns—to the people. Now that a year has passed since the NDA came to power, he demanded that the government release a White Paper, detailing how many people have actually received the house sites.

G. Sudhakaran's revelations reflect CPI (M)‘s decline, says V.D. Satheesan
The revelation made by senior Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI (M)] leader G. Sudhakaran regarding the tampering of postal votes shows the degeneration of the left party, Leader of the Opposition V.D. Satheesan has said. In a statement issued on Thursday, Mr. Satheesan said that Mr. Sudhakaran deserved appreciation for showing the courage to expose the undemocratic and illegal actions of the CPI(M). The Election Commission's decision to investigate the disclosure was also commendable, he said. The Leader of the Opposition said that Mr. Sudhakaran's statements revealed that the CPI(M) had not only attacked and murdered political opponents but also subverted democracy. 'In past elections, including in Kannur, the CPI(M) had widely captured booths and engaged in bogus voting. These actions were repeatedly pointed out by the Congress and the United Democratic Front. Sudhakaran has now openly admitted them,' Mr. Satheesan said. He said that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had risen above the CPI(M) general secretary. 'The CPI (M) is using power solely for corruption. Its wrongdoings are yet to be fully exposed. Good communists like Sudhakaran will speak out against such acts,' Mr. Satheesan added.

CPI(M) calls for an all-party meeting headed by PM, special session of Parliament
The Communist Party of India(Marxist) [CPI(M)], which attended the all-party meeting called by the Centre on Thursday in the wake of 'Operation Sindoor', regretted the absence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the second consecutive time in the key all-party meeting. John Brittas, leader of the Party in the Rajya Sabha, who attended the meeting on behalf of the CPI(M), urged the government to call an all-party meeting with the participation of the Prime Minister and also a special session of Parliament. In the context of the government reporting that the 'intended objectives of the Operation are achieved', Mr. Brittas pointed out that given the past experience, it is doubtful, if such military action will be able to target and eliminate terrorist groups. He emphasised that the government should continue pursuing diplomatic actions and build international pressure to bring the terrorists to book. It should also see that the situation does not escalate. He urged the government to ensure the protection of the people in the border areas and also to provide all required assistance to those who are affected by the situation, He asked the government to place all the facts before the people and counter the spread of all kinds of misinformation. Mr. Brittas also stated that it is the duty of the government to curb the spread of hate, while underlining that terror has no religion. War against terrorism cannot be conducted without fighting the spread of hate. He also lauded the people of Pahalgam and Kashmir for showing the path to the entire country by unitedly condemning terrorism with compassion, even after suffering from all its ill effects. He demanded that the government lead an all-party delegation to Kashmir at an appropriate time to stand by the people of Kashmir.

Jayarajan defends Ragesh's presence at inauguration of beach tourism project
Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] leader E.P. Jayarajan has defended party Kannur district secretary K.K. Ragesh's presence at the inaugural event of the Muzhappilangad-Dharmadam Samagra Beach Tourism Project. Addressing the media in Kannur on Tuesday (May 6), Mr. Jayarajan said it was 'customary for party representatives to attend events attended by the Chief Minister and Union Ministers. This has been the tradition, irrespective of which part is in power. It was the same during the tenure of K. Karunakaran and A.K. Antony.' He added that 'moves by the Congress and the BJP to create a controversy over the event were unfounded.' He accused the Prime Minister's Office of 'not maintaining protocol' during the inauguration of the Vizhinjam port. 'It was indecent to invite only the party's State president. He also praised rapper Vedan, saying the latter was a 'talented artiste with a growing youth following.'

Rajeev Chandrasekhar wangled an official invitation to Vizhinjam port commissioning: Govindan
Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] Kerala State secretary M.V. Govindan has accused Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State president Rajeev Chandrasekhar of wangling an official invitation to the commissioning of the Vizhinjam International Seaport through the Prime Minister's Office. He alleged at a press conference here on Monday that Mr. Chandrasekhar had made a spectacle of himself by being on the dais hours before Prime Minister Narendra Modi's arrival and resorting to sloganeering to put the BJP's political stamp on the national event. Mr. Govindan said the Kerala government bore the lion's share of the project cost. In contrast, the BJP-led Union government limited itself to a minimal viability gap funding loan. He said the CPI(M) would organise many programmes to honour those who resisted the Emergency on June 29, the 50th anniversary of the Congress government's constitutional overreach.
